CaixaBank — leading financial group in retail banking in Spain — has set a target of 43% women in management positions by 2021, an increase of their current rate of 41.3%, one of the highest levels in the financial sector. The company has used the WEPs as a guide to focus its gender equality targets and initiatives. CaixaBank has established an executive Diversity Committee, developed a specific scorecard to analyze progress on target, used gender-diverse shortlists in management promotion processes and engaged with managers in regular focus groups and networking sessions to identify barriers to women’s career progression. They have also developed a diversity programme called Wengage involving employees across all organizational levels. The programme develops and implements actions to encourage flexibility and work-life balance and promotes training and mentoring for women.
