JOMIPSA is a Spanish company that produces ready-to-eat meal kits, social action kits, emergency kits and more. Aiming to match the company’s needs with those of their employees, the company adopted flexible working hours, also known as “Flexitime, “in 2019. By formalising flexible start and end times for employees while fixing core full-team working hours within the working day, Flexitime has created numerous advantages both for employees and the company.
Employees benefit from stress reduction by being able to control their work schedule according to their personal preference and further adapt as needed in consideration of unforeseen events. Flexible work hours also help close the gender gap, contributing to greater equity for employees. Workers also experience cost savings due to the reduced cost of childcare or after school services.
The benefits for the company include increased productivity due to improved morale, a positive and healthy work environment, greater talent retention and extended business hours based on the possibility to start the day earlier and close later.
This flexible working hours model addresses the challenges of reconciling workers’ professional and personal goals, while also allowing the company to more deeply commit to the Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
